Visiting the Gulf Coast? Bring your bike and take a ride with us!
Do you hate riding hills? Well you’re in luck as Florida is the flattest state in the United States. Riding bridge-to-bridge along the coast you will only experience several hundred feet of elevation change over a 55 mile course…with the majority of elevation change occurring on two bridges. While it’s true that the vast majority for our roads on the coast are flat, a mere 30 miles to the north we have a few challenging (by Florida standards) hills that are great for climbing. Just north of Crestview, FL, At 345 feet above sea level, we have the highest point in Florida.
Items of note:
- Our Tuesday group ride on Rage Road, is on the Eglin Range. Any entry on to the Range REQUIRES a $12 range pass. Passes are available at Eglin’s Natrual Resources Branch (Jackson Guard) in Niceville, FL (MAP). You can contact Jackson Guard at 850-882-4164 Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sundays and federal holidays.
- Florida has the most lightning injuries per year in the United States. Lightning kills. Be sure to check the weather before heading out on a long ride.
- Other than while on Eglin Air Force Base property, Florida does not have any specific bicycle helmet laws. However, for all organized club rides helmets are mandatory.

SEE YOU ON THE ROAD!
