Club Ride FAQs
Are you a road cycling club?Contrary to popular belief, we are NOT just for road cyclists. We welcome anyone with an interest in cycling, whether it's someone who's into competitive road racing, someone who likes to cruise slowly by the beach and anyone in between. Many of our members can be seen on a road bike one day, and a mountain bike the next. Off-road, triathlon, recumbent, tandem. You name it, we've got people riding it. All cyclists and their families should feel right at home.
Who can ride with the club?
Club rides are open to non-members. The Ride Calendar and the Newsletter both have schedules and descriptions of the rides so you know what to expect in terms of pace and distance. For the road rides, knowledge of riding in a pace line is helpful, but if you've never ridden with a group, you can still come along and learn as you go. Some of the rides offer less intense alternatives, and there's always a chance that new group rides will be added to help accommodate people of varying abilities. Anyone who wants to lead a ride is encouraged to do so.
Are there any rules for the club rides?
Apart from wanting folks to have good common-sense riding skills, we have some very basic safety-oriented rules: You must wear a helmet. You can't wear headphones. Obey the traffic laws. If there is any other specific information about a ride, the ride leader will let everyone know.
If you have a question you'd like to see here, email our president.
